BitTorrent now also accepts cryptocurrencies

After joining the Tron ecosystem, BitTorrent began to accept other cryptocurrencies as well.

The announcement was made on the official Medium channel of the Tron Foundation:

“now customers who want to shop on BitTorrent.com and uTorrent.com can use bitcoin (BTC), Tron (TRX) and Binance Coin (BNB), these websites, in fact, are managed by the company BitTorrent, Inc., now owned by the Tron Foundation.”

Cryptocurrency payments are made possible thanks to the the collaboration with CoinPayments.net, a cryptocurrency payment gateway, and on the websites mentioned you can buy annual subscriptions of BitTorrent or μTorrent products, such as Ads Free and the Pro version client for Windows.

The post on Medium also contains a short guide, accompanied by screenshots, which shows how to make a purchase on BitTorrent.com with payment in cryptocurrencies.

Justin Sun, the founder of TRON and CEO of BitTorrent Inc., said: “BitTorrent joins a growing list of online companies whose products and services accept TRX as payment. With BitTorrent’s over 100 million users, the move helps increase the use of TRX in online marketplaces”.

BitTorrent Inc. is a software company based in San Francisco, and should not be confused with the BitTorrent protocol that allows P2P file sharing.

The company produces software for BitTorrent’s decentralized network and its products are used on hundreds of millions of devices worldwide.

In early November, Tron (TRX) recorded a transaction record of 1 million transactions in a single day.

The more it spreads as an online means of payment, the more likely it is that these trading volumes are set to grow.

The purchase of BitTorrent Inc. is a step in the right direction in order to make more and more use of decentralized cryptocurrencies such as TRX as a means of payment on platforms that are also decentralized, such as BitTorrent.
