IBM creates Acceleraitalia: 48 universities for new jobs also in the blockchain field

IBM Italia activates the Acceleraitalia programme involving 48 universities to create new professional figures through seminars also in the field of blockchain technology.

According to what has been reported, IBM’s aim is to reduce in Italian universities the skill gap, that is the gap between skills acquired compared to the skills required in terms of employment, in view of the new disruptive technologies, which seems to be an embarrassing fact in Italy today,

For this reason, with the Acceleraitalia program, IBM introduces seminars dedicated to new emerging technologies, aimed at training new professional figures.

In fact, more than 600 hours of courses focused on blockchain tech, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data, cybersecurity, internet of things and quantum computing are going to be organised.

Enrico Cereda, President and CEO of IBM Italy says:

The lack of innovation, and not the introduction of exponential technologies such as artificial intelligence, risk burning thousands of job opportunities. This is the awareness that pushes us, with the articulation of the program AcceleraItalia, to support universities in preparing students for a technological scenario that is constantly changing. The forecast shared by many is that only 10% of the jobs known to date will disappear, while 100% will be transformed. A figure that must push us towards a new formula of public-private collaboration for education“.

Universities involved include the Polytechnics of Milan and Turin, the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, the University of Pavia, the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa, the University La Sapienza in Rome, the Federico II in Naples and the Polytechnic and the University of Bari.

The list of IBM’s direct or collaborative programs to create new job skills thanks to the entire Italian education system, even beyond universities,  seems to be an endless list.

But how much is this commitment in terms of investment?

Cereda answers:

Our biggest investment in helping the Italian universities to nurture new professional profiles is passion. A passion motivated by a sense of responsibility that, in view of the great challenge represented by new knowledge, requires us to roll up our sleeves and actively participate in the training of those who will lead our country very soon. We live in the age of exponential technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain and the Internet of things: if we do not know how to put them to good use, we will lose jobs, competitiveness, productivity and efficiency“.
