BitTorrent and Tron have announced the launch of BitTorrent Live, a live streaming platform similar to Snapchat but with cryptocurrency payments.
BitTorrent is now part of the Tron ecosystem and has its own BTT token. The new platform is called BitTorrent Live and will soon be available in beta for testing.
The app will allow users to create video content to be published live over the Internet and connect with other people who share common interests.
Users will initially be able to search for topics that they find most interesting and send feedback and likes. Blockchain-based features will be added in the coming months to protect user privacy and to enable BTT payments.
In fact, the app will be implemented in several stages: the download of the beta testing will be available by June 2019, whereas for now, it is only possible to register in order to be notified when the app will be released.
Justin Sun, the founder of Tron and CEO of BitTorrent, said:
“Imagine chatting with your favorite athlete, becoming immersed in a music festival, or meeting new friends to share your passionsโโโall by simply firing up the BitTorrent Live app. Our strong foundation of decentralized technology will allow us to fulfill our vision of a boundary-free internet while being at the forefront of a new content experience”.

The real innovation of this solution lies in the possibility for content creators to be paid in BTT directly within the platform itself. It is not yet clear how the remuneration system for content creators will work, nor who will pay, but the big competitors (Snapshot and Instagram) do not have these features.
Therefore, precisely the fact that users can be remunerated, could convince many creators to use BitTorrent Live instead of the alternatives.
