Australia’s famous fast food chain, Origin Kebabs, now accepts also crypto as a payment method.
As posted on their Facebook profile, the cryptocurrencies accepted by Origin Kebabs are Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC), Binance Coin (BNB), Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Ethereum (ETH).
In addition, the company has integrated Lightning Network support to enable superfast crypto payments. Origin Kebabs is also the first restaurant chain to accept payments with Binance’s new crypto, as stated by general manager Burhan Goktas.
“After learning about crypto, I knew I had to make it a part of our business. It’s a no-brainer to sign up with TravelbyBit. I am very excited that we are going to be the first to adopt BNB payments at Point of Sale, following the launch of the new Binance Chain”.
In addition, the chain is also in relationships with the Coca-Cola brand for a possible partnership, so as to have enough credibility and to be able to involve other operators as well.
“If we can get someone like Coca-Cola on board it just adds to the credibility of cryptocurrency, we’d encourage other major chains in the country to trial it to help further adoption. Jump on board!”
For the moment, crypto payments are only accepted in 4 Queensland stores: Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Westfield Chermside, Broadbeach and Eagleby, where this payment method is being tested.
In the future, the chain will decide whether or not to accept crypto in all its Origin Kebabs subsidiaries.
