The first study regarded a specific type of meat produced in one cattle slaughterhouse, as the first officially reporter application of this new concept, by an English Agency.

Sian Thomas, head chief of the IT compartment, said:

‘This is a really exciting development. We thought that blockchain technology might add real value to a part of the food industry, such as a slaughterhouse, whose work requires a lot of inspection and collation of results.’

‘Our approach has been to develop data standards with industry that will make theory reality and I’m delighted that we’ve been able to show that blockchain does indeed work in this part of the food industry. I think there are great opportunities now for industry and government to work together to expand and develop this approach.’

FSA as the UK public agency is in charge of food security for England, Scotland and North Ireland, with the intended public health preservation.

This agency has always put a big effort into this business with the introduction of the best technologies and significant scientific research in light to provide the best services possible.

In this trial blockchain has been used for stocking information, giving free access to both cattle slaughterhouse and FSA, while the second step will allow access to the farmers in line to provide the best tracking method for meats and their origin.

There are different existing instruments for tracking meat products like VeChain and Ocean, where the first has announced the launch of a specific blockchain to track generic goods from the fashion compartment to the food one.

One of the most interesting applications of blockchain is for sure the logistic-security of food products.
