In response to a parliamentary question at the Chamber of congressman Simone Billi, the Deputy Minister Galli, responsible for the country’s economic development, said that the blockchain is essential in the development strategies of the Italian government. He himself follows the developments with attention and interest.
The Deputy Minister, after briefly presenting the characteristics of the technology, said:
“Its wide diffusion can represent an essential step towards the efficiency and digitization of processes, an objective that the MISE strongly pursues“.
After recalling the Italian signature for the European partnership on blockchain technology on September 27th, a necessary step for participation in the use of the relevant resources, Deputy Minister Galli highlighted how the European Blockchain Partnership has as its objective the creation of a common blockchain platform for the public administration whose first implementation will be the registration of diplomas and qualifications.
The Italian contribution in the sector is linked to the maintenance of an open configuration of the technology and to a selection of the best practices that also involve Italy in the evolution of the sector.
The government intends to establish a national strategy, through a group of experts that deepens the related issues and allows the definition of a legal framework that can facilitate the development of blockchain technology, referring in this case to the group of 30 experts being selected at the MISE.
The government intends to authorize a series of experiments aimed mainly at the traceability of products and the protection of the ‘Made in Italy’, and for this reason, a specific fund for 100 million has been created to support high-tech experiments, including the IOT and AI sectors.
The fund is also open to private individuals from which the MISE can withdraw for the support of specific public or private projects, or with which to finance advanced technological challenges.
