Opera’s decentralized web 3.0 crypto-browser, available for Android devices, gives today the ability to browse using decentralized applications with a crypto wallet built on Ethereum technology.

At the Hard Fork Decentralized event in London, Opera announced the new integration of a crypto wallet built on the Ethereum blockchain within the already well-known Opera Web 3 app which is now available in a beta version.
The app, currently available only for Android devices and downloadable from Google Play, allows to:
- Send and receive crypto
- Engage in simple online shopping using crypto
- Explore and discover the DApps – decentralized applications – within the browser based on the Ethereum blockchain
- Store and collect ERC-20 and ERC-721 tokens (such as CryptoKitties)
Waiting for the giant competitors such as Google, Opera is the first browser with features related to the cryptocurrency and blockchain world, allowing users to interact with decentralized apps (dApps), manage their digital identity and make transactions.
Executive Vice President Krystian Kolondra said at the event:
“Our hope is that this step will accelerate the transition of cryptocurrencies from speculation and investment to being used for actual payments and transactions in our users’ daily lives“.
Project leader Charles Hamel explained:
“We’ve decided to support Ethereum, as it has the largest community of developers building Dapps and has gathered a lot of momentum behind it“.
The company’s goal is to develop this application under a user-friendly perspective, initially using Ethereum precisely for the variety of DApps and tokens present in the crypto market, trying to continue to adapt the model both for other devices such as Windows, Mac and Linux but also to introduce other protocols in the future in order to integrate other cryptocurrencies.
The company has explained how this continuous study of these new technologies, which are opening new horizons, is a real challenge. Their goal of keeping the end product user-friendly will allow speculators and/or investors to become real crypto users.
