MiSE and IBM: the blockchain project for the Made in Italy

Today, March 13th, MiSE has presented the first blockchain project for the protection of the Made in Italy.

At this stage it is a pilot project developed in collaboration with IBM focused on a feasibility assessment. With this study, they want to verify the strengths and critical points of the application of the technology in production sectors in which Italy is particularly represented in the world and which are therefore worthy of protection.

They will try to apply the DLT to tracking along the entire production and distribution chain, so as to be able to protect the final consumer from fraud, counterfeiting or alteration of products, certifying the product Made in Italy in a reliable manner.

The study will also include a popular workshop in which the added values related to the use of the blockchain will be presented, focusing in the initial phase on the textile-clothing chain, in which the production and distribution processes will be analysed in order to assess where to carry out the checks and then evaluate the feasibility of implementing the project.

The presentation of the project has been attended by 26 companies, trade associations and by the Undersecretary Andrea Cioffi, while the final comments have been made by the lawyer Marco Bellezza, advisor to the Minister Luigi di Maio for digital innovation. IBM presented several cases of success of the application of the DLT within companies.
