The Caroli oil is traced on the blockchain

Blocksyte has announced that the traceability of the extra virgin olive oil of the Italian company Caroli will take place on the blockchain.

Blocksyte, a company founded in 2018 with its headquarters in Nashua, New Hampshire, offers a blockchain-based SaaS (Software as a Service) and specialises in the food sector where it is a member of the IFMA (International Foodservice Manufacturers Association).

Blocksyte has thus introduced, together with the company Antica Masseria Caroli of Martina Franca operating since 1976 and which in recent years also exports to America, the end-to-end traceability of the oil on the blockchain for the transportation from Italy to America, monitoring in real time the location, temperature, humidity and exposure to light in order to have an optimal control of the condition of the product during the transport.

Caroli USA’s CEO, Ben D’Antico, explained:

“We are excited to use blockchain to monitor our olive oil from the production facility through customs clearance and into our warehouses. This ensures that our customers can be confident that they are paying for and receiving a premium product, which has been tracked from the bottling source.”

The tracking on the blockchain will be made possible thanks to IoT (Internet of Things) sensors that can monitor these parameters automatically and accurately, allowing to see if there are any anomalies.

Blocksyte’s CEO, Alan Pelz-Sharpe, explained:

“We applaud Caroli for its forward-looking approach to introducing Blocksyte’s blockchain traceability into its supply chain. We look forward to expanding our relationship with the company as it increases its shipments to a growing clientele here in the US”.

In addition, the two companies will in the future integrate a label with certain product information such as origin, bottling date and shipping date.
