Opera Touch for iOS adds Ethereum wallet and Web3 support

The award-winning Opera Touch browser for iOS upgrades to version 1.9.0 and now offers a wallet for Ethereum and full support for Web3 technology. The version for iOS joins those already present for Android, Windows, Mac and Linux.

It is possible to download the new version of Opera Touch directly from the Apple App Store.

Opera Touch iOS users can now access a selection of Web3 apps in the dApp store from the browser’s speed dial.

The company said it chose Ethereum because it is a popular and fast-growing protocol.

Opera Touch supports all ERC-20 and non-fungible (NFT) tokens.

Charles Hamel, head of Opera’s crypto section, said:

“We believe that all modern browsers should integrate a crypto wallet. This will enable new business models to emerge on the web. Opera is the first browser to make using crypto on the Web seamless and easy. Following a strong demand from the crypto-community, we are now making this experience available on iOS.”

Hamel then went on:

“Before Opera entered the cryptocurrency scene almost a year ago, using cryptocurrencies online and accessing Web 3 required special apps or extensions, which made it difficult for people to even try it out. Our browsers remove that friction.”

To celebrate this important update, Opera has partnered with a new dApp called Marble Cards.

It transforms web pages into digital collectible cards. Almost all URLs on the Internet can be turned into a card, but only once. Collector cards are therefore non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the Ethereum blockchain.

Johan Unger of Marble Card said:

“At Marble.Cards, we want to let people create unique and personal digital cards based on anything from the internet. Opera has set a new standard for browsers with its Web 3 support, and we are thrilled to be featured as part of their iOS release. We hope as many people as possible will set out to create new Marble cards.”
