Crypto Coinmarketcap: “We started tracking OTC markets”

On the occasion of a new blog post published by Coinmarketcap that tells news about the most followed platform in the crypto world, Cryptonomist interviewed Carylyne Chan, VP marketing at CMC.

She explained to us more about the new features included on the website. Among these, for example, the use of Kind Ads token to pay for advertising.

It is a new partnership for CMC that aims at making the Internet more “kind” with more relevant advertising.

The Kind network, in fact, provides a platform where publishers are directly linked with the advertisers that can have direct access to publishers’ inventories.

Coinmarketcap launched a PRO service, what is the future for this project?

Our pro.coinmarketcap.com is our professional API service, which provides more advanced functionality and more historical data on the higher tiers. We are launching this new professional API because we’ve received a lot of inbound requests for our data, especially from teams developing products and funds.

They are looking for a more robust API that can scale with their offerings, and this is what we’ve built with the professional API. This professional version will feature additional endpoints, more calls, higher rate limits, and exchange/market and historical data for the commercial tiers. We are also offering more historical data and SLA for the enterprise tier of the API.

In your last blog post I saw a lot of new features for the website, API, glossary, newsletter, what are the next steps?

Yes! We are constantly upgrading and improving CoinMarketCap based on our users’ feedback. We are looking to improve our user experience greatly next, such as more charting capabilities, better apps (including Android), and UI updates! There are also some interesting projects we are tinkering with, which we will announce when we’ve figured out their feasibility. I’ll keep you updated!

Recently we read this report about the OTC market and crypto volumes. What’s your opinion about this? How is it possible that $8/12 billions are on the OTC market and is it possible to track them?

We also started tracking some OTC markets on CoinMarketCap in the most recent update. We will continue to add more of these markets in a progressive manner, as we understand and agree that they are extremely important in getting the most accurate picture possible in crypto for our users.

You started a partnership with Kind Ads token for advertising. How was this idea born?

We believe that advertising tech being on the blockchain is really important, so we are always sourcing for notable teams and projects that we believe are great for the growth of the space.
