Blockchain technology will be the subject of discussion at the 73rd Plenary Assembly of the United Nations to be held in New York on September 24th.
On this occasion, officials from different countries and technology experts will meet in a symposium entitled “The Blockchain for Social Good: Utilizing Blockchain to Aid Economic Development” during which the potential of DLT as an engine of economic growth will be discussed.
The event was organised by the Blockchain Charity Foundation (BCF), the Finance Center for South-South Cooperation (FCSSC) and the Women Political Leaders Global Forum (WPL) and will be introduced by a speech by Malta’s President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.
This will be followed by a roundtable discussion during which the most important pilot projects in the world will be presented.
BCF leader Helen Hai said: “BCF firmly believes that blockchain will substantially transform the world by introducing transparency, accountability and efficiency to charitable activities and accelerating global poverty reduction, job creation and economic growth. BCF is delighted to work with international organizations and industry leaders to embark on this new journey together“.
Silvana Koch-Mehrin, founder and President of the WPL, explained: “We at WPL believe that technology and digitalisation can greatly benefit the advancement of society globally. Convening women political leaders who have the drive and the influence to create positive change and enabling a discussion on how new technologies can advance national interests is a key step towards action on the national and local levels“.
