Malta Blockchain Summit 2019 will take place in May

The second edition of the Malta Blockchain Summit will be held from 22nd to 24th May 2019.

The first edition took place in November 2018 and despite a particularly unfavourable market, still managed to attract 8,500 people, also thanks to high-sounding names such as John McAfee, the Winklevoss twins, W. Scott Stornetta and the robot Sophia.

Stornetta, known as the “Founding Father of Blockchain“, commented on the event by saying:

I came to talk about the early work that we did, laying the foundations pre-Bitcoin for the blockchain. It is a little frenzied and very crowded. I think they succeeded a little too well in attracting people here“.

The next event will focus on Social Impact and on the Satoshi Vision for blockchain technology, with the aim of promoting social impact in society through a truly decentralised ecosystem. The event will open with a Social Impact Awards ceremony on the eve of the summit.

It will be held at the Hilton Hotel in Portomaso, Malta, in a first-class exhibition floor suitable for a global exhibitor crowd.

The line-up is not yet known, but the speakers will include prominent names such as Roger Ver, Tim Draper and Ben Goertzel of SingularityNET, along with the second appearance on the island of the robot Sophia. The event will also be attended by the Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and the Junior Minister for Financial Services, Digital Economy and Innovation, Silvio Schembri.

The event will also include a VIP dinner, networking activities, an ICO Pitch and two conferences, all to be held from 22nd to 24nd May.

Eman Pulis, the founder of the Malta AI & Blockchain Summit, said:

I wish to thank everyone who attended Malta in November and for the overwhelming feedback we received. The Blockchain community accepted me and my team as part of the family. I look forward to contribute and help drive this technology forward by doing what I love the most – events! This year, we are raising the bar with a stellar line-up of speakers and we expect an even larger crowd to attend our show“.

In 2019, Malta, the self-proclaimed Blockchain Island, will issue a fourth bill that will give DAOs legal status. In addition, they are also working on a series of incentives to support companies that deal with artificial intelligence.

For this reason, the event organisers have expanded their reach to include Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT) and Quantum Technology.
