NEM Venture, the investment venture capital of the NEM ecosystem, announced that it has invested in SharpShark, a platform that provides a timestamp solution to protect the rights of content creators.
We have recently invested in SharpShark, a Symbol-powered timestamping solution that protects creators’ copyrights. SharpShark also enables the transfer and tokenization of intellectual property, and the auto monitoring of violations. https://t.co/NntkqXiJ6S #IP #Symbol #nem

SharpShark is a project born from the minds of CEO Sasha Ivanova and product designer Valeria Panina.
The two have developed the project first as PoC (Proof of Concept) and then jointly with Cispen, the newspaper of the union of journalists.
The whole system has been redesigned to obtain the patent on American territory.
SharpShank chose the NEM blockchain, now called Symbol, to record the signature of the files. This, together with the author’s data, proves the authenticity of contents.
The data is GDPR-compliant, despite being saved in an immutable and public way.
The choice of this blockchain is explained directly by the CEO, who claims to have followed NEM for several years:
“As long-standing members of the blockchain community, we’ve followed the NEM project for years, and the Symbol blockchain suits perfectly for intellectual property management. Symbol has a layered architecture that enables trustlessness, and performance optimisation, which was a natural fit for our solution. We’re excited to work with the NEM Ventures team to further develop our product, with the aim of making copyright and intellectual property protection more accessible and equitable.”
This blockchain allows different uses, such as creating a token at a very low cost.
It should be noted that living in a completely digital world has increased the risk of running into fake news and forged documents.
Thanks to the timestamp, it is possible to set a specific moment of time to determine with absolute certainty both the date and the content of a certain file or news.
This allows checking the date when the news or file was published, who published it and the content, without it being altered over time or being deleted.
This, however, is not the only project in this respect. In the crypto sector, there are many companies that have this objective, for instance the Zilliqa (ZIL) blockchain or WordProof with its integrated system within WordPress that uses the EOS blockchain
