Ethereum Foundation: $2 million in grants for PoS

The Ethereum Foundation has published a blog post covering the $2 million of grants allocated for the development of Serenity, or Ethereum 2.0, which will be released by January next year.

The funds have been donated by the Ethereum Foundation to the various companies that have contributed to the necessary improvements for the preparation of the Ethereum blockchain in view of the major update that will take place next year when PoS (Proof-of-Stake) will be introduced.

The majority of the funds were allocated to Prysmatic Labs, which took home $725,000 for the development of the Prism client; next up is Status, which received $500,000 for the Nimbus client, to which should be added $150,000 for the development of the nim-libp2p language, while in third place there is Sigma Prime with $485,000 for the development of the Lighthouse client.

Other grants were distributed to Chainsafe for a total of $217,000 for the Lodestar light client; Harmony with $189,000 for the development of its own beacon chain; $184,000 went then to Whiteblock which contributed to the testing part of the network.

Finally, even the crypto analyst Dmitry Khovratovich would have received $10 thousand for his contribution via reports on the security of Legendre PRF.
