Ethereum hard fork date: news are expected on February 28th

The new Ethereum hard fork is scheduled at the 7,280,00th block and the expected date is February 28th, but the latter may vary depending on the speed of creation of the new blocks.

A noteworthy date if we consider that also the Tron fork will take place on February 28.

ethereum hard fork date news

As previously mentioned, rather than a hard fork, this is an update of the blockchain.

Ethereum’s Constantinople was initially scheduled for February 25th, but the date has been postponed by a few days because, in addition to the Constantinople update, which includes major improvements to the EIP (Ethereum Improvement Proposals), a second testnet will also be created, St. Petersburg, on which changes to the update will be introduced in order to test everything without problems.

As far as the end user side is concerned, there is no need to do any operation because no new blockchain or token will be created from this hard fork. Rather, Ethereum’s miners and nodes will have to update their clients to the latest versions so as not to be cut off from the update.

Unless there are further last-minute problems, as happened previously due to a major security breach, the fork will take place on February 28th, the countdown can be checked directly here.
