Wasabi: “We want to make the wallet more appealing to new users”

The Cryptonomist interviewed Balint Harmat, CEO and co-founder of zkSNACKs, or the company that developed the well-known Bitcoin wallet called Wasabi.

How was your 2020? What are the things you are most proud of regarding the development of the project during this year?

Regardless of the COVID-19 situation, we can say we had a good year at Wasabi. All our major releases had a warm welcome from the users. There is no single thing we are proud of, probably the progress with Wasabi Wallet 2.0 and development of the cryptography behind the WabiSabi protocol that was designed by our research team.

What are the plans for your 2021?

As we have announced earlier our main focus is WasabiWallet 2.0, which involves the full redesign of the UI and a big jump in UX to make Wasabi more appealing to new users. We would like to release the new version in 2021. As we can see the market is really looking forward to it, currently we can not see any blocker that would stop us from carrying it out.

Can you tell us more about what happened with Europol ?

There was an internal paper that has probably been leaked from them, which was from technical point of view a well written and to the point paper. As far as I know, Europol itself never contacted us.

What will be the biggest crypto trends in 2021?

As regulations tighten I’m expecting more non-custodial solutions on the market where there is less of a need for a trusted third party, or an intermediary.
