Peter Hurley: “Nearly everything will be tied to an NFT”

On October 30th, world-famous photographer Peter Hurley will launch his NFT project called Shabangrs, a collection made to honor millions of photographers around the world, who have so far been largely ignored in the NFT space.

Shabangrs, 10,000 NFTs on sale on OpenSea

This collection of 10,000 NFTs is on sale on OpenSea (the pre-sale started on OpenSea on October 20th, while the general sale will be on the 30th) and each one has different utilities, offers, raffles, and giveaways that come with ownership. Each Shabangrs NFT holder will get “citizenship” in the virtual city of Shabangrsville, opening up access to a vast trove of resources and an amazing network of creatives and photographers.

On this occasion, we interviewed Hurley to better understand how and why he started to work in the crypto art sector.

Peter Hurley: “Shabangrs NFT collection to raise awareness”

Why did you decide to enter the NFT industry?

The NFT sector is changing the way creators are able to exchange their work with collectors while verifying ownership in real-time.

For photographers, this is a huge opportunity being that they don’t always get credit for the shots they take. With NFTs, photos can always have the creator’s information in the metadata which translates into credit being given.

Photographers in general don’t know much about this space and Shabangrs NFTs are meant to raise awareness while providing massive value to the community.

How can photography benefit from NFTs?

Photography and photographers can benefit from NFTs by making it easy for nearly anyone in the world to transfer ownership rights and verify authenticity without having to worry about fakes or replicas. Going a bit further, photographers can also add utilities to the items they sell. For example, a photographer may have an upcoming event and include access to that future event in a photo or series of photos sold as an NFT. That’s just a game-changer.

Was it difficult to start working with NFTs?

If I didn’t have the extremely knowledgeable and talented team that’s currently working on Shabangrs, it would have been difficult to get this going. It definitely requires you to surround yourself with subject matter experts such as designers, developers and marketers.

How do you see the NFT future?

The future of the NFT space is mind-blowing. I bet nearly everything you can imagine owning will be tied to an NFT at some point.
