Seafood lands on the blockchain in Oslo thanks to the Norwegian company called UNISOT, which develops blockchain-based platforms for companies using Bitcoin Satoshi Vision (BSV) and IoT technology.
The project had already been announced at the London conference promoted by CoinGeek and dedicated to Bitcoin SV.
The seafood industry is growing every year with a forecast of further growth in 2023, which is why UNISOT believes that greater sustainability and product traceability are needed to improve brand reputation and customer satisfaction.
The technology will be called SeafoodChain and will be used by Seadfood and Aquaculture Industries for tracking the entire supply chain using Smart Digital Twins and Product DNA.
As we know, this is not the first time the blockchain has been used for food traceability: a few months ago it was the turn of soup, as it was for salmon, chicken, citrus fruits, tomatoes and much more.
Not only in the food sector, but also with regard to the tracking of raw materials, such as ethical minerals or textiles.
Recently, an Italian company, EZ LAB, also launched its own project with a crowdfunding campaign on Mamacrowd that exceeded 100 thousand euros thanks to a partnership with IBM Food Trust.
However, the question is to what extent the fact of putting everything on blockchain has not become a mere marketing operation. For example, a short time ago Danone recently launched a similar initiative but with a non-transparent project following Carrefour‘s announcement that its sales have increased thanks to blockchain.
In any case, there has also been a recent failure of the MiSE project for the Made in Italy blockchain, which should have been applied mainly to the Italian textile-fashion sector.
