Collectable toys based on the Ethereum blockchain

The third toy based on the Ethereum blockchain is coming out. This was announced by CryptoKaiju, who previously had already launched two more toys (Genesis and Jaiantokoin).

This time, it’s CryptoKitty, a 7.5″ puppet made from vinyl and produced under Dapper’s NIFTY license, which includes a tamper-resistant NFC label with unique serial numbers that connect the physical collector’s item to its digital version.

In fact, the CryptoKitty toy is linked to an NFT that looks similar, so it can be backed 1 to 1: for every single physical CryptoKitty, there is a unique NFT on the Ethereum blockchain.

In this way, it is possible to certify the origin and give proof of authenticity to every single toy just like CryptoKitties.

CryptoKaiju is a British company that manufactured the world’s first fully traceable artistic toys on a public blockchain.

Genesis was released in November 2018, while Jaiantokoin in March 2019, and even these were toys with tamper-proof NFC labels attached to the base of the toy and containing unique serial numbers corresponding to an NFT.

The use of NFTs (Non Fungible Tokens) allows the physical toy to be connected only to a single, non-duplicable and non-alterable digital object that certifies its origin, authenticity and scarcity.

In fact, CryptoKaiju’s NFTs contain metadata that includes some unique aspects of each collector’s item, such as its date of manufacture, sex, colour, or description of personality traits of the depicted object, such as intelligence or creativity.

In this way every single object produced by CryptoKaiju is unique, and connected to a single NFT, while each CryptoKitty item is backed 1:1 by a CryptoKitty NFT on the Ethereum blockchain.

CryptoKaiju founder Oliver Carding commented:

“We strive to keep every new batch of Kaiju fresh, adding something different each time to add value for our amazing community and ever since launching we’ve wanted to collaborate with some of the amazing companies in the space. When we approached Dapper Labs with the idea in April, they thought it was cool and talked us through how it could work with their NFT license. I am extremely pleased with the results, this latest Kaiju is our best yet and the whole process truly is a testament to the amazing creativity and collaboration happening in this space at the moment”.
